Back to basics: Jennifer Garner swaps Golden Globes glamour gown for practical jeans and jacket as she steps out with daughter Violet

She joined the legions of stunning stars on the red carpet in a glittering red strapless Vivienne Westwood couture gown at the Golden Globes on Sunday night.
But Jennifer Garner had left her movie star alter-ego behind as she stepped out with daughter Violet on Wednesday.
The 40-year-old mother-of-three swapped the glamour for a more practical parenting outfit to pick up her seven-year-old.

Jennifer sported a stylish black jacket and white scarf over and houndstooth blouse, teamed with jeans and comfortable black boots.
Violet meanwhile, bounced along in a grey hoodie, pink T-shirt, skirt and matching trainers.
Clutching her mother's hand, she smiled broadly, showing off the same dimpled grin as her mother.

At one point, Jennifer wore a tiny round sticker on her forehead, but quickly took it off, much to Violet's amusement.
But there was no sign of Violet's four-year-old sister Seraphina, and or baby Samuel, 11 months.
Father Ben Affleck was also at home following his Golden Globes triumph where he was awarded the Best Director award for his movie Argo, which also won Best Film.
In his acceptance speech Ben thanked Jennifer and their children saying, 'I want to thank my three kids Violet, Sera and Sam, I love you guys. And I want to thank my wife.
'She's the reason I'm standing here. I adore you, I love you so much. Thanks for sitting through this. You're my everything.'
Jennifer also presented an award in the ceremony.
Ben walked away with the Best Director gong, despite being snubbed in the Oscar nominations for the same category.
However, the actor-turned director said he was still thrilled at the accolades Argo did get from the Academy which will award the Oscars next month.
'We were nominated for seven Oscars including best picture - I'm thrilled,' he said at a post Globes press conference. 'If you can't be happy with that then probably your prospects for long term happiness are probably pretty dim.
'You know, I'm elated tonight. I feel like the luckiest guy in the world.'
